We’ve made it all the way to the letter L and what else could we have but something to do with love for our Literary Smackdown in the AtoZChallenge. Only today we’re going for the looniest love story.
- The Princess and the Pea
Now we all know that fairy tales can be a little odd when it comes to what matches up the happy couple, but this one is right up there. The only princess worthy is one who can feel a pea through 20 mattresses?! I think you’re making a rod for your own back there princey boy.
or
- The Little Mermaid
Here we have a mermaid who is willing to give up her tongue and the sea for legs, while using which she always feels like she is stepping on sharp knives as she walks. This is all because she is in love with a prince, a prince who is in love with another woman. There’s desperate and then there’s fairy tale desperate.

What is the AtoZChallenge?
For those who don’t know, the AtoZChallenge is a giant blog hop with thousands of blogs taking part. Every day in April, apart from Sundays, these blogs will post using a letter of the alphabet at a prompt, e.g. A on 1st, B on 2nd etc.It has been running since 2010 and was thought up by the lovely Arlee Bird who put out a challenge and it has grown and grown since. It is a superb way to meet other bloggers and to have a huge amount of fun.
Both of these fit so well, but the Princess and the Pea has just always seemed crazy to me.

Alex’s Ninja Minion
For the looniness of it all, I’m voting for the Princess and the Pea. Never mind the Prince, if the Princess is that sensitive, how does she ever sleep? Can you imagine her being that sensitive and then sleeping on a bed infested with bed bugs? Okay, stupid though. But no more zany than her tale.
Not sure about this one…they’re equally loony!
