We’re sorry, somehow the scheduling messed up with this one and refused to post. We didn’t realise until today.
Welcome to the letter G and for today we are asking you to pick the Ghastliest Ghoulie for us in our Literary Smackdown. We have two very mean contenders, both of whom come from the pages of two very gifted authors, but which have both been turned into stars of the big and small screen.
- Pennywise the Clown
Created by the great Stephen King, Pennywise is the evil in Derry in the novel IT. In the mini-series adaptation he was played most evilly by Tim Curry. He is the physical manedistation of an ancient evil that has been in Derry since Derry was founded. He is the laughing clown until he grows teeth and drags you down to where everyone floats. His targets are nearly always children In IT he menaces Bill, Ben, Eddie, Beverly, Richie and Stan and, as children, they defeat him, only to be called back thirty years later when they are grown, to face him again. Clowns are evil, surely he is worth your vote?

- The Woman in Black
Dreamed up by the immeasurable Susan Hill, the Woman in Black is a terrifying apparition. In the small town of Crythin Gifford whenever she is seen a child dies. In life she was Jennet Humfrye. Robbed of her own child by her sister because he was born out of wedlock, and seeing him die in the marsh, she died herself cursing those who had taken her son and society who had let them. Now she takes others’ children in vengeance and keeps them by her side in death. Seemingly nothing can stop her in her search for revenge, is she worth your vote?

What is the AtoZChallenge?
For those who don’t know, the AtoZChallenge is a giant blog hop with thousands of blogs taking part. Every day in April, apart from Sundays, these blogs will post using a letter of the alphabet at a prompt, e.g. A on 1st, B on 2nd etc.It has been running since 2010 and was thought up by the lovely Arlee Bird who put out a challenge and it has grown and grown since. It is a superb way to meet other bloggers and to have a huge amount of fun.
