Greetings and welcome to the second day of the AtoZChallenge. Today we are serving up two of the type of character who we love to dislike: the Bombastic Buffoon.
In one case, he’s not all bad, just somewhat self-centred, in the other, he’s a smiling face that will just as quickly stab you in the back, if he’s not too busy signing an autograph.

- Mr Toad
Toot toot! Mr Toad from Wind in the Willows, whose antics always seemed to get other people into trouble. He’s clever enough, but he’s a very narcissistic fellow. He absolutely loves motor cars and ends up stealing one, which he then crashes. He is convicted, but escaped to valiantly regain Toad Hall from the weasels. He never means harm, is he the Bombastic Buffoon for you?

- Gilderoy Lockheart
A wizard whose great deeds were all stolen from someone else. About the only thing he’s really good at are memory charms. When he takes Harry Potter‘s Defence Against the Dark Arts class he causes more harm than good. He even tries to memory charm Harry and Ron when he realises the game is up and they have realised the truth. Hiding behind a ready smile he is definitely a Buffoon, but will you vote for him?

What is the AtoZChallenge?
For those who don’t know, the AtoZChallenge is a giant blog hop with thousands of blogs taking part. Every day in April, apart from Sundays, these blogs will post using a letter of the alphabet at a prompt, e.g. A on 1st, B on 2nd etc.It has been running since 2010 and was thought up by the lovely Arlee Bird who put out a challenge and it has grown and grown since.
